I wore my WikiTree T shirt over my top whilst at the show and not one person asked me anything.
The folks in the US seem to be more familiar with blogger beads and as there were lots of us wearing them we stood out as a group.
I feel that these events should be places where we should bounce ideas off one another and not just rely on the "experts". We all have personal experiences which we can share and they can help others. I am sure this is why Mondays with Myrt has such a following those that join in or follow pick up clues from others. Technology should allow us to be more inclusive. As sites like WikiTree are showing, collaboration is fun.Hilary Gadsbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03493542134835202291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728509094770344156.post-59379245295622636032015-05-16T17:49:45.321+01:002015-05-16T17:49:45.321+01:00Enjoyed reading the comparison. I think it might be an idea if more could be done on this front in future such as ribbons and beads. Celia Heritage organised some tweet-ups this year but I wasn't able to make any of them because they always clashed with my own talks or other commitments. I normally attend all three days at WDYTYA Live but because I'm always helping on a stand and speaking I find I never have enough time as I would like for networking. A lot of the networking goes on in the evening, but I'm normally involved in the DNA get togethers and don't have much time to catch up with my fellow genealogists. If you do volunteer on a stand you get the benefit of being able to get into the hall early and get at the front of the queue for the lecture tickets.Debbie Kennetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11573470282571579765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5728509094770344156.post-9226658942460873992015-05-13T13:27:12.882+01:002015-05-13T13:27:12.882+01:00Hi Hillary, nice to see the photo of you, Lisa Lou...Hi Hillary, nice to see the photo of you, Lisa Louise Cooke and me. I would have loved to have one with Tamzin and you, too. I too like the idea of the ribbons and beads. It gets people talking so networking is much easier. What did you think of timing as between the two - enough down time and/or enough to do each day? Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us Hilary.Tessa Keoughhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09146870113899850353noreply@blogger.com
